MLEI undertook the structural design for a 910m 2 freezer store extension to a food processing, packaging, storage & distribution facility. This doubled their existing high bay freezer storage, with all processing and storage refrigeration plant served by a central ammonia refrigeration plant.

The new freezer was directly adjacent to the existing freezer, with the new room cooling load added to the existing central refrigeration plant. The required coolers, pipework, valving and controls were added to achieve required capacity and level of automation.

MLEI services included:

• Design load including wind and earthquake assessment
• Design of footings to extension
• Design of slab on ground including double slab and racking assessment
• Design of steel portal frames
• Design of bracings, purlins, girts, stairs and miscellaneous steelwork
• Design of stormwater disposal and local site drainage
• Engineering drawings for certification and tender.
