MLEI undertook the structural and civil engineering design for Bedford Group’s landmark 40,000m 2 site for their new Advanced Manufacturing and Retail Hub. As Australia’s largest social enterprise, this project reinforces Bedford’s commitment to creating inclusive and contemporary employment opportunities for people with disability.

The scope of the project included:

  • Warehouse building 19,250m 2
  • 2-storey showroom & office 1,500m 2
  • Food/Beverage & microbrewery area including cool room and freezer storage 2,325m 2
  • External concrete hardstand and sprinkler tank slab
  • Carparking for 153 spaces.

MLEI Lead Structural Engineer Michelle Collett shared her insights on the project, “This has been an incredibly rewarding structural project with unique engineering design challenges. We successfully optimised the steel design to minimise weight while accommodating the significant loads required for the food & beverage facilities”.
