MLEI undertook the structural engineering design for BlueScope's new headquarters in Adelaide. This included a new manufacturing facility and a 2-storey administration office.

MLEI provided the following services:

• 50,000 m2 site with a 20,000 m2 manufacturing facility with cantilever canopy and propped canopy
• Over 10 no. 6.3-tonne gantry cranes
• 2-storey administration office
• Staff amenities of 400 m2
• Driver amenities of 100 m2
• External concrete hardstand of 23,000 m2
• Sprinkler tank and pumphouse slabs.

As this facility is to be used to manufacture Lysaght and Fielders products, the design needed to fit around the manufacturing equipment, with 20-metre clear spans between columns. There were over 600 tonnes of structural steel, purlins and girts.
The project was delivered in 18 months to-schedule, from Design through to Handover.
