MLEI were engaged by Outerspace Landscape Architects on behalf of the East Gippsland Shire Council to develop the detailed civil design and construction documentation for Main Street and associated service roads in Buchan. The project scope included kerb realignments, pedestrian reticulation, drainage review and investigation, road pavement condition assessments and upgrades, carparking upgrades/ reconfiguration and landscaping design and upgrades within the road reserve and existing medians.

This project contributes towards providing a safe and efficient rural road network while improving the public realm and accessibility for Buchan visitors and passers-by. The key challenges within this project were the 10m+ level difference from boundary to boundary, building frontages and driveways tie-ins, reconfiguration of intersection accommodating two-way entry and exit for 12.5m service trucks and compliance with a strict landscape and civil construction budget to meet council objectives.
