South Bank 3 Ferry Terminal (South Bank 3) had deteriorated to a point where it could not be safely repaired. This project was for a quick temporary replacement of the ferry terminal. The Council has just recently started on the design of the permanent terminal.

MLEI Consulting Services (trading as Esen Engineering at the time) delivered the engineering design for:

  • Concrete shell pontoon
  • Aluminium gangway
  • Aluminium balustrades
  • Steel roof structure
  • Steel restraint piles
  • Steel fender piles.

We undertook inspections and certifications to:

  • AS1170.1 – Structural Design Actions - Dead and live loads
  • AS1664.1 – Aluminium Structures Code
  • AS2159 – Piling Code
  • AS 3600 – Concrete Structures Code
  • AS4100 – Steel Structures Codes
  • AS4997 – Guidelines for the Design of Maritime Structures
  • Flood event (Q100) RL 5.7 AHP
  • Current 1.5 m/s.
