MLEI undertook civil engineering and design for this 80-lot brownfield residential subdivision. Delivered over 4 stages, the project was designed to meet all authority requirements while addressing the challenges posed by the site’s flat terrain and existing infrastructure constraints. Our services included:
- Detailed civil design – earthworks master plan, road layout, grading, and pavement design, potable water & sewer infrastructure, common services trench layout, street lighting & electrical reticulation, telecommunications pit and pipe infrastructure, coordination of gas infrastructure design, WSUD
- Construction tender call, assessment & contract documentation
- Superintendence, contract administration and engineering inspections during construction.
**CHALLENGE **
The project’s flat terrain required innovative stormwater solutions to comply with WSUD policies. We used MUSIC modelling to incorporate bio-retention basins with specialised filter media, transition layers, and drainage systems.
**VALUE ADDS **
- Saved $250K+ in dumping costs by reusing topsoil
- Used rock battering for cheap & fast installation, increased safety, environmental natural feel
- Undertook potholing to avoid clashes and delays
- Achieved variations below 5% of contract value.
