Upgrade of Malabam Road which connects the airport, barge ramp and the remainder of the community – to improve the level of safe access for the local remote/regional Indigenous community in Maningrida, as well as increase growth in mining, pastoral and tourism industries.

Implemented in 4 stages (25%, 50%, 90% and 100%), our design included:
• Reconstruction and rehabilitation works
• Flexible pavement and seal design based on geotechnical findings
• Drainage requirements including a site review of the hydrology based on survey data and BTO report
• Cross-section selection that meets the site drainage and traffic use
• Subsurface treatment requirements including drainage
• Safe system design and Safety in Design
• Earthworks and materials reuse
• Verge works including footpaths and connectivity along Malabam Road.
