Ben is the Managing Director of MLEI. He has 26 years’ engineering experience in the design and project management of multi-storey health, education, commercial, residential, retail & industrial buildings, industrial structures, water-retaining & water-related structures, and civil infrastructure projects.
Ben has been leading the MLEI Group as Managing Director for 2 year – prior to that he was a vital part of the leadership team as Director for 10 years. He has Chartered Engineering and RPEQ credentials.
Ben has worked in senior roles as Project Manager and Lead Structural Engineer for various multidisciplinary projects, acting as the key point-of-contact with the client and managing project delivery. However these days, Ben mostly acts as a Project Director, but he occasionally gets hands on as Project Manager and Lead Structural Engineer for some projects.
Ben has led the design of numerous projects. From 2011–2015, Ben was joint venture Deputy Project Lead for the $1.85B New Royal Adelaide Hospital and was responsible for structural, civil and traffic engineering design and site surveillance. He spent nine months in London in 2005 working as a structural design engineer on various buildings. He spent a year on-site at the Port Adelaide Wastewater Treatment Plant supervising the construction of the new pump station as part of the Bolivar High Salinity Project. In early 2000, he worked as structural engineer in Tonga, inspecting and reporting on church buildings.
