One Year On, Strengthening the Systems Behind Our Business
Growth brings opportunity. It also places greater demands on the people, systems and processes behind a business.
As Jessica Chesser marks her first year as our Head of Corporate Services, we reflect on twelve months focused on strengthening that infrastructure. Bringing greater structure and clarity to how we work, supporting our people through change and building a stronger foundation for continued growth.

Creating Clarity Through Change
Jessica joined us with more than 21 years of experience across corporate services, project delivery, operations and business management. She brought an understanding of the balance required in a consulting business, between people, clients, quality and commercial realities.
“A big focus has been bringing more structure, systems thinking and clarity to the way we work. There is still plenty to do, but we have made good progress and built a strong foundation.”
That work has taken a whole of group perspective. Rather than focusing on what works for one team or office, Jessica has looked at how our people, systems and business priorities can work together more consistently.
Bringing People With Us
For Jessica, stronger systems are only effective when people understand the thinking behind them.
One of the lessons from her first year came through communication. After questioning whether she was sharing too much information, Jessica eased back. Feedback from the team showed that the context and guidance were valued.

That insight has helped shape an approach where change is communicated clearly and people are given the opportunity to understand and contribute to where we are heading.

A Foundation to Build On
Jessica is particularly proud of the Services team and how they have responded to a year of growth and change.
They have continued supporting the business while solving problems, learning new ways of working and building stronger connections across teams.

The focus now is to build on that progress.
We will continue developing our people, embedding the systems we have introduced and looking for opportunities to make the way we operate simpler and more consistent.
For Jessica, that is what the first year has ultimately been about. Creating the clarity and structure our people need today, while building an operating foundation that can support where we are heading next.
