Marine infrastructure operates in dynamic and constrained environments. The engineering response needs to account for how the asset will be built, accessed, loaded, maintained and operated.

Construction methodology is central to that response. Marine works are often delivered over water, around port operations, within weather windows and with limited access for plant, materials and investigation. The permanent design needs to reflect how the asset will actually be built.

That means considering construction staging, piling method, barge operations, prefabrication, precast elements and temporary support systems before the design is locked in. Where appropriate, the permanent works can also be designed to support temporary construction loads, reducing complexity during delivery.
