Madsen Giersing Joins MLEI
Establishing Our Marine and Coastal Engineering Capability
Marine and coastal environments demand specialist expertise. The challenges are different, the risks are greater and the consequences of getting it wrong can last for decades.
Through the integration of Madsen Giersing, marine and coastal engineering has become a new capability within MLEI, strengthening our ability to support projects where land, water and infrastructure meet.
Founded by Peter and Ulla Madsen in 1987, Madsen Giersing built a respected reputation over more than 35 years of delivering marine, coastal and heavy temporary works engineering throughout Australia and internationally. The business became known for practical engineering solutions, technical excellence and a deep understanding of construction within complex marine environments.
Lasse Madsen joined the business in 2003 and later became Managing Director, continuing the legacy established by Peter and Ulla while guiding Madsen Giersing through its next stage of growth.
The integration brings together complementary capability across civil, structural, environmental, marine and temporary works engineering. It allows us to provide more connected advice throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction methodology and delivery support.
The experience developed by Peter, Ulla, Lasse and the broader Madsen Giersing team has helped shape projects across ports, marine infrastructure, coastal protection works and heavy temporary works. This expertise now strengthens the way we support clients operating in some of the most challenging environments in the industry.
