Broken Hill Hospital Redevelopment

New South Wales

Project Overview

The redevelopment expanded and reconfigured key health services within an operating hospital environment. Construction staging was central to the project, with the existing hospital needing to remain operational while new and refurbished areas were delivered.

Key Project Elements

  • New dedicated external entry with a larger waiting area
  • Full internal refurbishment and reconfiguration of the Emergency Department
  • Improved Emergency Department efficiency, including ambulance bay works
  • New 1,000m² single-storey Acute Mental Health Unit with eight beds
  • Earthworks and stormwater management
  • Improvements to internal roads and carparking
  • New 41-space carpark

The project required coordinated civil and structural design across new buildings, existing hospital areas and external infrastructure, with the engineering shaped around safety, staging and continuity of health services.
