Buchan Main Street

The Buchan Main Street Improvements project upgraded the township's primary streetscape to improve safety, accessibility and the public realm for residents, visitors and through traffic.

MLEI was engaged by Outerspace Landscape Architects on behalf of East Gippsland Shire Council to deliver the detailed civil design and construction documentation for Main Street and associated service roads, including kerb realignments, pedestrian network upgrades, drainage investigations, pavement assessments and upgrades, car parking reconfiguration, and landscape works within the road reserve and existing medians.

The completed works contribute to a safer and more efficient rural road network while creating a more accessible and welcoming town centre.

The design responded to significant site constraints, including more than 10 metres of cross-site level difference, complex frontage and driveway tie-ins, heavy vehicle intersection requirements, and the need to achieve Council objectives within a defined civil and landscape construction budget.
