Gladstone LNG Jetty Travellers

Project Overview

Constructed to support three major LNG developments on Curtis Island, these temporary works enabled the efficient construction of the QCLNG, GLNG and APLNG export jetties across challenging intertidal mudflats. MLEI was engaged by John Holland Group to design three self-launching jetty travellers, providing an innovative construction solution that supported rapid, land-based jetty construction while minimising environmental impacts.

  • Temporary work platforms supporting 280 tonne crawler cranes
  • Pile driving system for 40 metre long, 1.2 metre diameter piles
  • Installation of jetty headstocks + precast roadway units
  • Hydraulic launching system
  • Integrated piling hammer support
  • Reusable gantry system for pipe rack module installation

The completed system enabled concurrent construction of three LNG jetties, improving construction efficiency while reducing reliance on marine plant and preserving the sensitive coastal environment.
