Holland Street Stage 2
South Australia
Project Overview
The Holland Street Streetscape Upgrade rejuvenated an industrial precinct while retaining its distinctive character, creating a new public plaza where Holland Street meets the River Torrens to encourage cycling and pedestrian movement.
Working with lead designer JPE Studio and the City of West Torrens, MLEI delivered Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) for Stage 1, including street tree integration, permeable pavements, a feature rain garden, and an underground stormwater harvesting system to capture and reuse stormwater for irrigation.
For Stage 2, MLEI provided road reconstruction and kerb design, together with consolidation of roof drainage into Council's existing stormwater network.
The project transformed the streetscape into a more functional and attractive public space while improving stormwater management and supporting the long-term health of the landscape.
