Napa Napa Oil Refinery

Napa Napa Oil Refinery was the first refinery built in Papua New Guinea. The marine facility supported the import of crude oil and export of finished product, servicing both domestic supply and international markets.

• Four mooring dolphins
• 12m wide x 39m long loading platform
• 28m long access trestle connected to the causeway

Construction Approach

• Extensive use of precast concrete to simplify construction over water
• 129 driven piles
• Cast-in steel plates within precast units, allowing the superstructure to be welded to the steel piles

The project demonstrates specialist marine engineering capability across berth structures, dolphins, loading platforms, access trestles, driven piles and precast construction methods for complex over-water infrastructure.
