Victor Medical Centre
South Australia
Project Overview
Delivering large commercial buildings using light gauge steel requires careful engineering to achieve the necessary strength without relying on conventional structural steel. We provided the structural engineering for the 2,300 square metre Victor Medical Centre, developing an efficient light gauge steel solution using the ENDUROFRAME® building system. The project demonstrated the capability of cold formed steel for large scale commercial construction and received a Highly Commended award in the Innovative Cold Formed Steel Buildings category at the 2024 South Australian, Australian Steel Excellence Awards.
- Designed 17 metre light gauge steel roof trusses to support significant mechanical plant loads without the use of conventional structural steel
- Developed an efficient load path to transfer concentrated rooftop equipment loads through the light gauge steel framing system
- Engineered the framing to maintain structural performance while minimising overall building weight
- Coordinated the structural design with prefabricated framing to support efficient manufacture and installation
